I’ve learned that travel doesn’t always begin when you arrive somewhere.
Sometimes it starts weeks earlier, sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, wondering why a particular place keeps tapping you on the shoulder. This blog exists in that space between movement and meaning, where I’m less interested in checking things off and more curious about what stays with me after I leave.
As I started out planning a few things for this up and coming year, I realized that I haven’t posted anything to this blog in a while now … in fact, there are 5 other blogs (Ill talk about them on another post soon) I have been pretty active on over the years, but have neglected to stay current on any of them actually! I plan to address that as we start this new year though! At least that’s is how I am starting the year out LOL! Every Friday is the plan (for now!)

I’ve been traveling, photographing, and documenting for a long time now. Long enough to notice that the reasons have changed. What once felt like escape now feels more like observation. What used to be about movement has become more about stillness. And somewhere along the way, writing became less about explaining places and more about understanding myself inside them.
There’s a lot of conversation lately about whether blogs still matter. Whether anyone reads them. Whether search engines still surface them. I don’t pretend to know the mechanics of all that. What I do know is this: writing remains one of the few places where I can slow a moment down enough to see what it’s actually made of.
This site isn’t meant to be a definitive guide. It’s not a list of bests or must-sees. It’s closer to a travel journal left open on a table, inviting someone to pull up a chair and read for a bit. If you’re here, chances are you’re not rushing either.

I did ALOT of traveling around the ole’ US of A this past year our so with my 50at60 project, a story telling journey to travel to all 50 states in one year, the year I turned 60! I am still editing the stories of these visits over on the YouTube channel and plan on sharing a bunch of those through this year here actually.
Also…
In the year ahead, I’ll be traveling to new places and revisiting familiar ones. Some trips will be planned, others will happen almost accidentally. Along the way, I’ll share thoughts about the roads between destinations, the quiet towns that don’t ask for attention, and the small details that often matter more than the landmarks.
I’ll also link back to past journeys, videos, and moments I’ve already documented. Not as a highlight reel, but as a way of threading this chapter into the ones that came before it. Travel, like life, makes more sense when you look at it as a continuation rather than a collection.

If you’re reading this because you stumbled across it, welcome. If you’ve been following my work for a while, thank you for staying curious with me. Either way, this blog remains what it’s always been at its core: a place to pause, notice, and quietly ask, “Why here? Why now?”
That question, more than any destination, is what keeps me moving. As always, more to come!
